MOOSEHEART CHILD CITY AND SCHOOL is a community and school for children and teens in need, located on a 1,000 acre campus, 38 miles west of Chicago.  Over its 97 year history, Mooseheart has been home to nearly 12,000 young people, ranging in age from infancy through high school.  Founded in 1913 by the Moose fraternal organization, Mooseheart is supported completely through private donations--the great majority of which continues to come from the 1.1 million men and women of the Moose fraternal organization, in more than 1700 Lodges and 1,600 Chapters located throughout the United States, Canada, Great Britain, and Bermuda.  Moose International headquarters is located on the Mooseheart campus.

Mooseheart provides complete home care, education and training for youth whose families are unable, for a wide variety of reasons, to care for them.  Some have lost one or both parents; others are living in environments that are simply not conducive to healthy growth and development.  Children and teens live in one of approximately 30 residences, each designed like a spacious single-family residence.  Each is home for six to twelve children.  The heart of our program is our trained Family Teachers--in home caregivers who provide a consistent, systematic method of care, with emphasis on special-skills development; skills essential for success in later life.

It is Mooseheart's policy to admit qualified children who have a need.  The admissions committee considers all applications of children in need.

MOOSEHAVEN, THE "CITY OF CONTENTMENT".  Located on 70 beautiful acres on the St. Johns River in Orange Park, Fl, 15 miles south of Jacksonville.  Founded in 1922 by the Moose fraternal organization, Moosehaven has provided Moose members and their spouses with a relaxed, secure, and enjoyable retirement experience.  Residents enjoy home maintainance free living.  Health care is comprehensive, and transportation is readily available--as are plenty of social interaction and activities.  These include an indoor swimming pool, bowling lanes, exercise equipment, a 450 foot pier for fishing,  arts and crafts, and computers.  Special dinners are held, shopping trips and sightseeing tours are always available.  Both Catholic and Protestant services are offered on Sunday at the beautiful international chapel.

When health care needs change, residents rely on the LifeCare Center, a 130,000 sq. ft. facility designed to meet all levels of care.  It includes a clinic, therapy department, pharmacy, and x-ray department.

For nearly 90 years, the Moose fraternity and Moosehaven have continued to demonstrate an abining concern for the well-being of Moose members and their spouses in the twilight of their lives.

A Note from the Director General

It is a tremendous accomplishment for any organization to still be around 100 years after its founding. We enjoyed our cake in celebrating the Loyal Order of Moose, Women of the Moose, Moose Legion and Mooseheart reaching their Centennials. The year 2022 is approaching fast and with it comes Moosehaven’s 100th birthday. In preparation for the party, we want to put an exclamation point on the first century of care for our senior members living with the beautiful City of Contentment. As Moose we have committed to build a new congregate living facility for our Moosehaven residents. This will be a three-story, 105 apartment, up-to-date 21st century technology, superior living environment. Our fundraising goal is $10,000,000 within three years. Can we do it? Visit Moosehaven and look into the eyes of one of our residents and tell them that we can’t….I double dog dare you! Thank you for building our foundation and giving generously to Moosehaven’s Centennial Project.
